Maintaining toys can sometimes raise big questions. In this article we discuss how to best maintain and clean your toys.
Types of materials
You have toys of many types of materials. In this article we will go through the following types:
- - Silicone
- - metal
- - Glass
- - (artificial) leather
How do you keep it clean?
Silicone:
The properties of silicone make it a smooth, soft, often flexible and non-porous material.
You can clean these very easily using a mild soap with an antibacterial effect, such as Unicura.
You can also boil a silicone toy. You do this by placing the toy in boiling water for 5 minutes. This also provides it with an antibacterial cleaning.
Examples of fun silicone toys are our silicone dildo with suction cup or our silicone anal beads .
Metal:
The properties of metal make it a smooth, hard and non-porous material.
Metal can be cleaned very easily using a mild soap with an antibacterial effect, such as unicura.
You can also boil a metal toy by placing the toy in boiling water for 5 minutes. This also provides it with an antibacterial cleaning.
Examples of fun metal toys include our stainless steel prostate stimulator or our metal dilator .
Glass:
The properties of glass ensure that it is a smooth, strong material that can also withstand temperatures.
Glass can be cleaned very easily using a mild soap with an antibacterial effect, such as unicura.
It is not recommended to boil glass toys due to the risk of the glass breaking.
Our recommendation for a fun glass toy is our solid glass dildo with handle .
(artificial) leather:
The properties of leather make it very strong and suitable for use in cuffs, for example.
You can clean artificial leather by wiping the leather with a damp cloth.
Genuine leather should also be treated regularly with leather grease to prevent it from drying out.
Examples of nice items made of (artificial) leather are our PU leather cuff set or our real leather flogger .
